About Beloit Cares

Beloit Cares started as a ministry of Beloit Life Center in 2013 with the goal of getting outside the four walls of the church to help agencies that are already helping people.

Qualified organizations were already doing good work so we started by asking simple questions like "What can we do to help you" and many agencies were shocked to hear that, often a question they were never asked. Often times they were given donations they did not need.

The first organization that we spoke to was Caritas and then slowly we added other organizations.

In 2019 Beloit Cares became its own 501 c3.

We start by asking local agencies what they need to continue helping people. One of the first stand-alone programs we created was the Shower Fund where folks could go to the local truckstop and get a shower for free.

We continue to work with many organizations as we work together to help people.

Toxic Charity

The book that changed it all for us.

Robert Lupton wrote a book, Toxic Charity that has challenged us to rethink helping others. It has caused us to step back and look at the ways we would like to help people.
